Project Methodology
In view of the urgent nature of work which need to be completed and commissioned in seven (7) months, the job was awarded by direct negotiation and to be carried out on a fast-track basis. Construction drawings were issued progressively by the designers as work progressed. Discussions were held between Client, Consultant, Contractors to ensure that designs are buildable and the construction experience of the Contractors were taken into consideration in the designs and detailing. The Resident Engineer was given the full authority to decide on construction details at the site and solved all constructional problems jointly with the Contractors. Site discussions were held daily to ensure nothing was in the way of the construction. The equipment contractor was also involved right from the start to ensure that civil work boxed-out and openings are in accordance to the equipment supplied.

In order to reduce the amount of piling work, the designer had decided to incorporate the 100,000 gal. capacity back-wash tank on top of the chemical storage building. This not only save time but also structural work and cost.

The works went on late into the night and after seven (7) months of hard work, close coordination and cooperation between all parties concerned, the work was finally completed and water started flowing through the system in time for the operation of power plant. Another mission accomplished by Asia Baru Construction Sdn. Bhd. to the satisfaction of the Client. Our little contribution in helping to alleviate the power shortage in the country.
