The Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC) is an initiative by the Johor State Government to develop an oil and gas hub in Pengerang. PIPC will house PETRONAS’s Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project and a host of other oil and gas industries, enterprises and support facilities.

The raw water supply project to PIPC will be undertaken in two (2) phases where Phase 1 will deliver 260 Mld of raw water, while Phase 2 will double up the total raw water supply to 520 Mld.

Johor State Government has granted PRPC Water Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas the rights to develop Phase 1 of the raw water supply project to PIPC (up to the boundary of RAPID). This Phase 1 development is known as the Raw Water Supply Project to RAPID or “Projek Air Mentah RAPID” or “PAMER”, and will deliver 230 Mld of the raw water to RAPID and another 30 Mld to the Johore State Government’s water treatment plant at Sg. Lebam.

The raw water will be abstracted from Sg. Sedili Besar and pumped through a raw water pumping main to an off-river storage by impounding a storage reservoir at Sg. Seluyut. From the Seluyut impounding reservoir, the raw water is delivered by gravity via the draw-off tower to a Booster Pumping Station downstream of the impounding reservoir. From the Booster Pumping Station, the raw water is pumped to the Terminal Reservoir at Bukit Panjang some 56 km away. 230 Mld of the raw water will be supplied to the Terminal Reservoir and 30 Mld will be supplied to the water treatment plant at Sg. Lebam. From the Terminal Reservoir at Bukit Panjang, raw water will be fed to a water treatment plant at RAPID by gravity pipelines.

A component of a major water supply project for Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to meet the water demand needs up to year 2025; under the Western Corridor Bulk Distribution Works to construct an 80 ML capacity reservoir at Bandar Kinrara, Puchong.

The scope of works includes:

A design and build project implemented by the State Government of Johor to provide additional treated water supply to Kluang District from the new Kahang Dam to ensure supply adequacy during the dry seasons and to meet future demand as well as to phase out old WTPs with unreliable raw water sources.

This Project is implemented with the objective to supply treated water to RAPID workers camp as well as consumers at Tanjung Pengelih area. Treated water from Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) source will be tapped from existing SAJ pipeline at KR road junction at Federal Road FT92 and conveyed through about 14.78km long of mild steel pipeline with nominal diameter DN 650/500mm.

The main components of the Project are as follows :-

The works, “Projek Pembinaan Empangan Kahang di Daerah Kluang, Johor” forms part of the construction of the engineering works to meet the projected water demand in Kluang District.

Project scope of works include:

A Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) with an ultimate capacity of 360,000 PE with Phase 1 constructed for 120,000 PE.

The plant is designed with SBR process to treat sewage to category 1 standard ‘A’ effluent as per Malaysian Sewerage Industry Guidelines (MSIG). Additional modules of the mechanized STP will be implemented in a later stage in tandem with the increase of sewage flow. Treated effluent is discharged to a receiving main drain located approximately 500m from the plant. Waste sludge is thickened and dewatered within the STP facility.
